The Ethanol Package
The Ethanol Package created by IRD Technologies, a subsidiary of E-Markets, Inc. (IRD) is a complete Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for Ethanol Production Facilities.. The system is comprised of Grain Accounting, Process Manufacturing, Sales, Shipping and Risk Management, all built on top of Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS) Great Plains edition world-class enterprise accounting system.
The system supports all the activities surrounding the contracting, delivery and payment of grain. Features include: Purchase Contracts, Scale receiving, Electronic Scale Interface, Discount Schedules and Grain Payments/settlement, and secure Internet Web portal access to account information.
Process manufacturing features support for the production of ethanol, ethanol co-products, and bi-products. Consumption of raw materials combined with the production of finished goods provide real time inventory with per unit costs. Bill of Materials (BOM) makes entry of production transactions quick and simple.
Sales contracting, load entry, shipping and invoicing features support ethanol plants in the sales and shipping of ethanol, Wet Distillers Grain (DWG's), Dry Distiller Grain (DDG's) and other products. Load Entry allows simple setup of loads. Load out features include support for electronic scale and/or meter tickets. Flexible Bill of Lading (BOL) printing feature allows printing of BOL's on demand.
The tracking of purchase contracts, sales contracts, futures contracts/hedges and projected manufacturing activities all combine to provide a powerful position reporting system, Enabling plant personnel to view inventory risk positions at a glance. Market to Market reports provide unrealized gain or loss on contracts.
At the heart of the system is the MBS Great Plains accounting system. Great Plains handles all general accounting activities, including Inventory, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger. Optional modules such as Equipment Maintenance, Fixed Assets, and Payroll are available to complete the solution. Until now, ethanol plants were forced to either write their own system or use "best of breed" approach. Ethanol plants were forced to integrate a grain accounting package with an accounting package. Risk positions didn't include the manufacturing components. Process manufacturing was ignored. Real-time inventory was not possible. The patched together systems just don't work. IRD has created a full featured, fully integrated ERP system for the ethanol industry.
